Traveling to Buckingham Palace

On certain dates, Bucking ham palace is open to the public. It is not only a signature landmark in London, but also one of the few working residences of a monarch that is open to the public. Those traveling to London from July 23 to Oct 3, while Queen Elizabeth II is visiting Scotland, will be able to see inside 19 state rooms, including the Throne Room, with a tour operated by the Royal Collection.

The public was first allowed to view these state rooms in 1993,w hen the Royal Collection opened the palace to fund repairs of Windsor Castle after a 1992 fire. The tours proved to be so successful that they became an annual event. Guests can follow an audio guide to view an intricately carved staircase in the Grand Entrance, the gold patterned ceiling and red drapes, paneling and matching chairs in the Throne Room, and white marble statues of Queen Victoria and her husband, Prince Albert in the Guard Room.
